Tarbert, Loch Fyne, is host to several popular Festival events and 2013 saw the Tarbert Book Festival become another annual fixture in the calendar of the picturesque, west coast village. Taking place in the late autumn, this celebration of books and reading has seen a wide range of writers, mainly Scottish, coming to appear at this popular literary weekend. Fiction, non-fiction, crime, poetry and comic art have all featured in previous programmes.
In 2015, the events for children and young people moved to Tarbert Academy. This collaboration allows us to co-host free events for pupils and fulfil one of the main aims of the inception of the festival, namely, a life-long love of reading in all its myriad formats.
The Saturday evening event, this year re-named the Stonefield Sessions, has seen some of the finest Scottish crime writers grace a TBF stage and is a particular favourite with the local audience.
In 2016, a further development was the introduction of a Writing Competition which is proving to be very popular with the prizegiving ceremony making the perfect start to the festival out-with the school.
