If at all possible, do try to add on a few days when you come to our Festival this year which is being held exclusively at the Stonefield Castle Hotel.
Other great local accommodation is available which can be accessed on our local accommodation page.
Tarbert is built around the largest natural harbour in the country and is famous for its Castle, associated with Robert the Bruce.
There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. As well as offering wonderful sailing scenery, Tarbert is right in the middle of the recently opened sea kayak trail.
If you like walking, The Kintyre Way stretches 100 miles from Tarbert through Campbeltown to Southend and the forests and minor roads have many cycle trails. If golf is your pleasure, there are 9-hole courses in Tarbert, in Southend (Dunaverty) and in Carradale. World-famous Machrihanish Golf Club is within an hour’s drive, along with the 18-hole course, The Dunes. You’re never far from the sea on the Kintyre peninsula, which goes some way to explaining the area’s strong fishing heritage and famous seafood.
Tarbert is also the gateway to the Inner Hebridean islands of Islay and Jura; ferry connections run from Kennacraig. From the east side of the peninsula you can travel to the island of Arran by ferry during the summer. For further information you may wish to search online at the links below.
